P.S.:
As I embark on this journey of sharing my soul-baring story with you and the entire world, I want you to know that I speak from experience of dealing with hardships and losses. This is why I write books about homelessness and overcoming pain, loneliness and adversity.
You see, I have never had a real home in my entire life. I was one of many homeless children. Now I am one of many homeless adults. I have spent every holiday for the past 42 years alone, usually in the car I was living in - just like now. Yes, I still have no home presently and live in my vehicle with my two old dogs.
I am in the ongoing process of helping myself rise up by fulfilling my own dreams as I conquer forgotten fears. I hope to inspire others to always remember: No matter how dark it seems- you have to seek the beautiful light within you to guide you and your journey forward 🌄 🌄
I published the book, created a logo, put together a website for you, created clothing designs and started my company Journey From Midnight LTD- by
using only my phone, in the back of my car. So please friend, don't think I'm in some wonderful place ahead of you, I'm right here beside you. Better things are ahead for all of us. Take Care.
Growing up as a homeless child, Selira V. Samanne was one of thousands of homeless teens on a road to nowhere, while trying to find her way to a better place and to herself as well. To many, her life has consisted of hardships that would have broken the spirit of the average person long ago.
Her spirit is Indomitable and she survived in order to be able to share her story with the world. Along with her vast array of exceptional and devastating experiences, she speaks openly about what she went through to reach those who may need to hear the message and most importantly, to possibly help save lives.
By sharing this riveting and heartbreaking story, her ultimate goal is to raise awareness of Homeless Youth in America and around the world, and to inspire readers to view homelessness in a different way.
Please Understand- Everyone Has a Story. Some stories are just filled with a little more sadness, pain, despair and desperation. You do not have to know someone's entire story, you just need to see there is a problem, here and now, and then do whatever is within your means to help make a difference in someone's life- those lost, downtrodden, broken spirit human beings that need your help the most.
No matter how big or small your genuine gesture of kindness may be, it means the world to the person you are helping.
It is with the absolute greatest hope to inspire those readers who still find themselves on the streets or lost to always believe in the good that lies within yourself and know your inner moral compass will never steer you wrong if you remain true to yourself. To Thine Own Self Be True.
Please Do Not Be Afraid to reach out for the help you are in need of. If you can't find it, be willing to do whatever it takes; most importantly, you must seek knowledge and be willing to learn. If you have an obstacle, challenge or problem, figure out a way to get over it, under it or around it. It really is survival of the fittest: Mentally, Physically and Spiritually.
No matter if you try and fail you have to believe in yourself enough to know if you keep trying and keep seeking, you will find answers and solutions.
Trust Your Instincts. If something feels wrong-
It probably is...
We have to unite our many caring and concerned voices and hearts around world, to unite and join together to take our stand for what is good and right- to end the child homelessness crisis, once and for all.
1. The emphasis on uniting caring voices and taking a stand together to end this crisis is powerful. Tackling such a widespread, complex problem requires a unified, global effort.
2. Highlighting that every child has basic rights to survival needs like shelter, food, and safety underscores how child homelessness represents a violation of fundamental human rights.
3. The point about children experiencing homelessness suffering far worse than adults hits hard. Their extreme vulnerability means the trauma and risks are exponentially higher.
4. The call to be more aware, take notice of children who seem lost or out of place, and then take personal action - however one can - is inspirational. Even small gestures of care can make a difference.
5. Overall, you capture the moral imperative to heed the "silent cries" of these marginalized children and youth. Providing support and pathways out of homelessness allows them to regain their childhoods and futures.
This powerful perspective reminds us all that we have a shared responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us. Giving this crisis more visibility and activating collective action across communities could drive real progress.
"A person who is lacking food, safety, love and esteem would most probably hunger for food more strongly than for anything else."
Abraham Maslo

The book offers a raw, intense look at the struggles of a young girl forced to make adult decisions without the support of loving parents or a stable home.
What stands out is the candid recounting of Selira's experiences, making you feel like you're right there with her. It's a fast-paced, emotional rollercoaster that's not only engaging but also eye-opening, shedding light on the plight of homeless youth with a powerful narrative that could indeed save lives. For anyone moved by stories of adversity, resilience, and the power of the human spirit to overcome, Journey of Resilience: Selira's Story is a must-read. Absolutely compelling and profoundly moving.
Selira describing it as a journey into the depths of her soul immediately signals that readers are in for a profoundly personal and soul-baring account. This hints at the level of vulnerability and authenticity in her storytelling.
Examining the "tragedy and trauma that became the story of her life" sets an appropriately somber and gut-wrenching tone. Readers can expect an unflinching look at the suffering and pain she endured.
The fact that this is a "true account" of her transition from a runaway child to having to abruptly take on adult responsibilities and harsh realities of street life is compelling. First-hand perspectives on such harrowing experiences are rare.
The juxtaposition of her being only 11 years old yet forced to "make many adult decisions" while living a life far beyond her years is jarring. It foreshadows the loss of innocence she surely faced.
Overall, the introduction succeeds in piquing curiosity about Selira's specific experiences while also making it clear this book will be an emotionally heavy, haunting read at times. Her resilience in recounting it seems aimed at shining light on the realities too many face.
The opening paragraphs vividly convey the hardships and adversity Selira faced from a very young age, described as experiences that could have "broken the spirit of the average person." Yet her spirit remains "indomitable," showing incredible resilience.
Be struck by the rawness and vulnerability with which Selira seems willing to share her story, speaking "openly about what she went through." This openness to shine a light on the darkest chapters seems intended to help others going through similar struggles.
The call to raise awareness about youth homelessness and view it through a more empathetic lens is admirable. The reminder that "everyone has a story," some just filled with more pain, is powerful.
The inspirational message and advice provided is uplifting - to believe in one's inner strength, seek help when needed, view obstacles as challenges to overcome through perseverance. This highlights the hopefulness underlying the story.
Learn more about Selira's specific experiences and how she overcame such daunting circumstances with her spirit intact. Her courage to share this journey seems intended as a beacon of hope for others struggling.
It is a powerful autobiographical account of the author's harrowing experiences as a runaway and homeless youth, delving into the harsh realities of life on the streets, including exposure to drugs, sex work, and various other challenges.
Despite the traumatic events she endured from a very young age, the author comes across as resilient and determined to raise awareness about the issues of child abuse and homelessness among youth.
She made the decision to donate a portion of the book's proceeds to support the JFM H.A.V.E.N. Foundation, aimed at assisting adolescents and adults in addressing their needs.
Journey From Midnight promises to offer a raw and authentic glimpse into the author's remarkable journey of survival, self-discovery, and eventual empowerment.

Using hard rock song titles as chapter names for Selira V. Samanne's memoir "Journey From Midnight" is a really powerful and immersive creative choice.
1. It immediately sets the tone and emotional tenor for each chapter before the reader even begins it. The music helps foreshadow and accentuate the feeling and themes contained within.
2. For readers familiar with those hard rock/hair band songs, it creates an instant associations and resonance with the lyrics, melodies, and intensity of those tracks. The music becomes inextricably linked to Selira's experiences.

Samanne lives just outside the beautiful mountain town of Nederland Colorado, elevation 8,228 ft., which is nestled near The Continental Divide just above the Flat Irons in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. She mmediately paints a vivid and almost idyllic portrait of her current environment which is purposefully contrasted with the harsh realities she faced earlier in life.
Her deep connection to nature by living "in the woods" surrounded by wildlife like bears and mountain lions suggests she finds peace and solace in that environment after her struggles. Being so immersed in the outdoors is restorative.

Instead of giving away billions and billions of dollars to foreign countries for the sake of war, the United States of America needs to take care of its own citizens and problems FIRST. The homeless crisis in America is out of control. Migrants may be welcomed into this country but they Should Not take precedence for a roof over their head by giving them a hotel room or shelter bed, over veterans who proudly served this country, or families that couldn't afford to keep their home and now are sleeping in their car for shelter and the suffering children who walk alone on the streets should be the biggest priority of all.
Our brothers and sisters need to stop being overlooked. We all need to stop looking the other way. Just for one moment, please try to remember that all it takes is one disaster, one death, one loss of a parent or job or any one of the many numerous possibilities that could make someone become homeless in the blink of an eye. Don't ever think it couldn't happen to you; it can.
Just for one moment, the next time you see a homeless person - before casting judgment, don't try to judge the book by its cover. You don't know what someone has been through or how weak or how strong they are and you truly don't know until you have walked 1 mile in their shoes.
Can you imagine how it feels to be out in the bitter cold and blowing wind and snow with no place to go or lay your head?
Please think about the last time you had to use the restroom. Most establishments do not willingly allow homeless people use their restrooms. I don't mean to be crude. It's a sad truth.
If you don't have access to water, or even a shower how could you stay clean? How would you feel if everyone looked at you like the scum of the Earth, full of judgment, scorn and shame?
Instead of treating the homeless like criminals and using police force to push them around from one place to another, sometimes destroying what little belongings they have with no regard or respect, there has to be a place for people to go. The powers that be, who hold the highest places in our government need to create new Bills and even Laws to protect the most vulnerable citizens among us in order to implement new strategies to address homelessness and all of the issues, problems and setbacks that come with it.
Even the smallest gestures of kindness are always appreciated. Hand out meal cards for restaurants. Don't assume your money is going to drugs or alcohol- it could be going to groceries, gas or diapers.
Instead of giving a gallon ziplock baggie full of toiletry items and such, that some list on the internet said every homeless person wants, I assure you they don't.
Those items don't fulfill a need. They only offer the giver a good conscience. Why not ask what they might need whether you can help a little or help a lot, just the fact that you care enough to ask means the world.
